This is 12-year-old, Aleena. Aleena is dying. With holes in her lungs and a weak heart she once feared that “any minute might be her last.” When her Dad died, she was terrified.
One day a KGM pastor invited her to Vacation Bible School. Aleena wanted to go but secretly wondered to herself if “she’d even live long enough to attend.” To her surprise, she did!
While the Bible stories of healing gave her hope, feeling the love of Jesus changed Aleena’s heart. She believed and her fear fled. Aleena’s body is still failing, but this tiny hero of the faith now boldly testifies that Jesus healed her heart “on the inside.”
And like David, God might well call her a “Daughter after His Own Heart.”
By the time she came to Vacation Bible School, she knew a whole lot about religion. Her father passed on his Hindu faith with its gods and idols. Her mother prayed before the Virgin Mary statue and told her “she needed a human intercessor to hear God.”
So, Yamini was shocked when everyone at VBS prayed to ONE God in the name of someone called Jesus. Even more surprising, they talked to Him directly!
But as the days went by, she soaked up the Bible stories and accepted Jesus as her Savior. Today, similar to the story of Josiah, Yamini’s home is idol-free because of her bold witness for Jesus and “the message that changed her life.”
